Lower wash arm hits heater clips and or manifold. A common problem and I have checked all the Q&A on this topic. Everything static looks perfect. You have never mentioned how much play there should be in the wash arm on the support shaft. Mine is a bit sloppy. After 10+ years it is possible that there is wear to the plastic part which fits over the steel shaft? There is just enough play for the arm to hit on occasion. Should I buy a new wash arm? Thanks.

Answer Jack, Yes, you probably need a new wash arm 6-917642 Also check that the wash arm cap has not disappeared. Check and make sure the discharge outlet W10296525 and screws99002664 are not loose and the meatl shaft is not bent. There should only be 1/8 to 1/4 inch play in the lower spray arm. Thanks

The lower washer arm (when running) is apparently hitting the 2 metal brackets that are over the heating element. It just started doing this all of a sudden and makes a lot of noise when running. Haven't taken the cap off yet but it sure is on tight! Even so, the washer arm has a lot of sway to it, alowing it to hit the brackets. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

Answer Hi. Remove the wash arm cap part # 99002654 and observe the wash arm itself part # 6-917642. If it is bent sloping down then it will engage the heater part # W10283681. Is the heater clipped into the brackets of the tub ? If it warped then you will need to replace it. Thank You.
