Low airflow through vent; filter service indicated on display Brent E. • Mountain View, CA • March 20, 2014 Appliance: Whirlpool Microwave Oven/hood 2.0 Cu. Ft. GMH5205XVS0 My Repair & Advice Replacing this filter was very easy: two screws hold in the grill cover at the top of the microwave, and then the filter just slides in and out of its holder. There was quite a bit of grease in the area, probably pulled there by the vent from the stove top. I cleaned the grease up and also hand-washed the wire-mesh filter on the bottom of the microwave with soap and warm water. Airflow when running the vent is now noticeably better.
