How can I tell if I have reassembled the chopper assembly properly, before I reinstall it?
Answer Mina, The "chopper" blade, is on one side of the screen. On the opposite side of the screen it should have the washer the spring, then the tqabbed end of the drive shaft, You should be able to move the shaft and chopper blade in and out of the screen. The tabbed end of the shaft assembly will be inserted into the pump housing, so the tabs alighn and meet the tabs in the center of the impeller, you'll need to slide the screen assembly into the housing at a slight angle with the smaller portion of the screen down towards the bottom of the housing. Then install the housing inlet protector to hold the screen in position.
Hi, Can the chopper assembly be installed assembled on the "drive shaft" with the retainer clip on or do you have to put the drive shaft in first, then the screen followed by the impeller, washers and retainer clip? thanks
Answer Bob, Once you remove the accumulator and volute you can remove the chopper and screen. The chopper blade is "spring loaded" if you pull out and hold the chopper blade, you should be able to lift the screen and chopper assembly up and out of the sump. Reverse the procedure and test the machine for operation. Just be careful with the blade and the edge of the screen.
