Answer Hello Jim! If the tub is slipping or not spinning then it could be your clutch. You can inspect the clutch by removing the transmission from the washer. Look for wore or broke parts. You can find some things about this on our Repair Forum. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/

On the last spinning cycle, the machine made a loud snap like noise and then began to smell like burning rubber. The machine continued to work but the smell got more intense. What would cause this?

Answer Hello Susan. It sounds like the motor coupler part number 285753A is bad. The coupler goes between the transmission and motor and will actually slip to prevent damage. It can cause a smell of burning rubber or plastic when it slips. Hope this helps..

When put into a spin cycle, my washer makes a loud and fast clicking noise, the tub does not spin, and the agitator turns weakly. I recently replaced the motor coupling with the newer metal-reinforced model after finding that the old one had broken, and when I checked the coupling out this time, it was fine. I am hoping this is a bad clutch, but is there any way to tell for sure, and that it's not the transmission that's the problem?

Washer makes a loud rumbling sound during the spin cycle. Seems to ramp up then rumble to a stop then start again during the spin cycle.

Answer Washer Bob, You will want to check the agitator to make sure that it is not loose. Also check the hub nut that holds the inner tub in place is not loose. Check your springs to make sure that they have not popped loose and that they are good.

If we c./o'd the Clutch assembly & the Lid Switch & still the Drum won't spin while in the Spin Cycle, what else could be the reason why the washer won't spin? I noticed that the Agitater is working fine, and the pump is working good too! Signed: Dazed & Confused

Answer Aris, You would want to check the air dome hose and air dome to make sure that they are not clogged. If the unit does not sense the water level reset then it will cause the unit to not drain. If this checks ok then it sounds like a problem with the neutral drain hanging up. This is part of the transmission assembly.
