On the last spinning cycle, the machine made a loud snap like noise and then began to smell like burning rubber. The machine continued to work but the smell got more intense. What would cause this?

When put into a spin cycle, my washer makes a loud and fast clicking noise, the tub does not spin, and the agitator turns weakly. I recently replaced the motor coupling with the newer metal-reinforced model after finding that the old one had broken, and when I checked the coupling out this time, it was fine. I am hoping this is a bad clutch, but is there any way to tell for sure, and that it's not the transmission that's the problem?

I had the problem with the LSQ9010LW0 Whirlpool washer not spinning, so I ordered the Clutch Assembly from you and installed it. I was careful to following your very good video instructions. After I put everything back together and reinstalled the agitator, I noticed that the bottom of the agitator did not rotate freely as it did before when I took it off. So, I thought maybe the new Clutch Assembly caused it not to move as freely. So, after I hooked up the water, I turned it on using the spin cycle... and then it started to made a rumbling noise and when I opened the lid I saw that the tub was turn very uneven as if it was a carnival ride at the county fair. So I tried to run the wash cycle from the beginning and then moved it to the rinse cycle and then the spin cycle, and it seemed to free it up to where it was working correctly and the bottom agitator was able to freely turn again. I would like to know what caused this problem?
