Will not go in to defrost. What control the defrost cycle on this model mbr22566kes serial 10664475je
There are 3 components to the defrost circuit on this unit, the control board W10503278, the defrost heater 67001794 and the defrost thermostat 67003426. You will want to pull the rear cover off the wall and check the defrost thermostat and defrost heater for continuity. If there is no continuity then you will want to replace the part without continuity. If both have continuity then you will need to replace the control board. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
I am replacing this part myself and am looking for the manual which shows the steps to program this board upon starting it up after installation.
Answer Hello Bradford,
There is not a manual to show you how to replace control board. You can replace the control board by pulling unit out. Unplug unit from wall. Take the 4 - 1/4" hex head screws from the square cover on the back of the refrigerator. Pull the plastic cover under the square cover off. Disconnect wiring. Remove board and reinstall new board. Once reinstalled there will be a PE on the control board. To program the unit there is a code on the bottom of the serial tag. It will be 4 digits. Once you have the code, close doors and push the door alarm and then the freezer down button hold for 3 seconds. Release the door alarm button and hold the freezer down button 3 additional seconds. The panel should start flashing. Once this is done you will push the freezer down button just once. The display will show numbers. Using the refrigerator up and down key input the first number. Once first number of code is put in then you would push the freezer up key to advance to the next number. Continue to do this til the code is input on the screen. Once you have the input in then you will push and hold the freezer down key til the display flashes. Once it starts flashing open and close refrigerator doors and the temp should show up on the display. These instructions should also be in the box when you receive your part.
