my upper oven bake element does not get hot, broiler works fine, lower oven works fine is it possible that the temp sensor is bad
Answer Ron, We wouldn't expect the temp. sensor 12001656 to be the issue at this point, we'd expect you to have an error code in the display in most cases. It's more likely an issue with the bake element Y04000066 or the ERC/Clock relay 7601M285-60. You'll want to use a meter and test the element for a "closed" circuit across the element terminals, to determine if it's good or bad, then reattach the wires and check for 240 VAC across the terminals, when the bake selection and temperature is selected. 120 VAC or less would indicate a faulty bake relay on the ERC or broken wire between the element and ERC.
If replacing the control board, would you suggest replacing the temperature sensor or HOPE it's fine?
Answer Hello Ron,
This would depend on the initial complaint. If you want to be safe about it, use a test meter to see if the temperature sensor is good or bad. If good, it will read about 1100 ohms at room temperature.
Is it possible for the broiler to work but not the bake element if this were a bad board?
Answer Hello Ron. Yes, the board can power one element and not the other element. This is a common failure.
