My defrost is not working. Since it is a hard element defroster in this unit, I assume it is not bad. How do I know that the control board is bad. a professional told me that would be the issue.
Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Hi, I bought this control board AP4343773 and the original problem was a dead display. After replacing the AP4343773 everything works except the switching from cubed to crushed mode. I understand the auger motor reverses for cube to crush ice. Do I need to replace the auger motor? Thanks Tom
Answer Hi Tom. Double check the ribbon cable from the fountain keypad assy and see if it is pushed in all the way. Then look to see if the keypad is a "good" spongy feeling like new so it activates the desired cube and crush buttons on the fountain control board that you replaced. Then open the freezer door and remove the ice bin. Shut the ice maker off. Empty and clean the ice bin. Dry all the way. Is the ice bin auger turning normally in both directions ? You need to replace the auger motor that is at he bottom, middle section where the ice bin sits on top of. The auger motor part # 2252129. Make sure the hex-rod giong in the middle up to the top gear is sealed Part # 2198628. so no moisture will get into the assy. Tape the door sw. shut. Use someone to assist you to push a glass in the front paddle and call for cubes. The auger motor will run normally one direction.Make sure it has 120 vac going to it as needed. If not use the wirind diagram supplied in the toe-kick grill to trace the wires back and find the bad connectiopn (or bad part) needed. Is the paddle actuator arm engaging the board switch when crush is commanded ? Thank You.
