My Kitchenaid fridge and freezer quit cooling while on vacation. I lost all cooling. The motor seems to run intermittently and the over temp light flashes. Tried to reset the over temp button and turn the main power switch overhead off for 5 min or so. It's 8 years old and no warranty. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

This refrigerator had been emitting a high pitched chirp off and on for a few days but it seemed to be working fine otherwise. I tried to run the diagnostics by holding down the Increase Temp button and the Cooling On/Off button. After the third or fourth item, the display went dark and now it won't cool, nothing's running. After pushing the on/off button, the display lights for a few seconds and then goes dark. Did I blow up the control panel and if so, what to do now, as none are available anywhere? Thanks for your help.

Latest Questions

My unit was fully functioning. Due to increased chirping, pinging, and rapid cycling, and having concern appliance failure would occur over the holidays with a house full, I proactively had the control board removed, rebuilt and reinstalled. I have since discovered the ice dispenser doesn't function (it did prior to the rebuild). Ice is properly made and stored. The dispensing chute opens, waits to dispense and then closes, Water dispenses as wanted and all the other "in-the-door" functions work properly. When I press the ice dispenser, I hear a click from the panel over the top of the unit and the blue ring (ice indicator?) on the front of the door lights up. When I release the glass from the dispense mode, I hear another click and blue light ring goes out. Sometimes there is a small variation in the sound. The auger is not stuck, The dispenser doesn't function with an empty ice bin, a little bit of new ice, or a full bin. Cubed or crushed makes no difference. Is this again a control board issue, and, if so, the same control board I just had rebuilt? Could it be a reconnecting issue. Is it the other control board? Are there relays or capacitors or anything I can test or replace without having to go through the 10 days without a fridge drill? Any help is greatly appreciated! THANKS!!!

The fridge control pad would not power on anymore today. There is no cooling in the refrigerator or freezer compartment. For the last couple of days, the over temperature light was on and for a few days before that, the display in the refrigerator would turn off and turn back on every few seconds. Any advice on fixing the issue appreciated...thanks.

I'm looking for the replacement motherboard for this model. The one on your website is not available. Are there any other possibilities of where I could find one?
