I just replaced the ice maker using your online video. It went in perfectly and the video was very helpful. I might be a bit impatient but it has been 30 minutes and the refrigerator has yet to fill the ice maker with water. Does this simply take a while?
Answer Hello Aaron,
The cycling thermostat will have to be satisfied, (below 20°F), before the icemaker will cycle. Everytime the door is opened to check on the icemakers' production, it will delay the icemakers' cooldown. Be patient and check on it in 24 hours before deciding the icemaker is not working.
My icemaker on my Kenmore refrigerator quit working. No ice in the trays and it seems like no water coming out of the fill tube. Water still comes out of the water dispenser without any problem. Any suggestions on what the issue is?
You will want to pull the icemaker out of the unit and check the fill tube to see if it is frozen. If the fill tube is frozen then clear the fill tube of ice and replace the water valve W10408179. The reason for replacing the water valve in this situation is due to the valve seeping and allowing water to trickle in and freeze in the fill tube. If the fill tube is not frozen the remove the cover on the icemaker and remove the icemaker motor module. Check the back of the module in the lower right side when looking at if from the back and check for burn marks. If there is a burn mark on the contacts then replace the icemaker part number 2198597.
