Part Number: AP3885081 Made by WHIRLPOOL I am having trouble understanding how this part will attach to the compresser. My compressor has three male parts in a triangular pattern. I do not see three female holes on this replacement part to attach to the compressor. The connecton to the electrical looks similar to the part I took off so no problem there.

Whirlpool SidebySide Model ED5PHEXM00. The starter relay is fried, found replacement part No AP3885081, but want to know if these burn up on their own or if there is usually another cause i.e. Compressor? Also is there a way to test if the capacitor which plugs into the relay is ok. At $100 I didn't want to just start replacing parts.

So heres the issue im having. I was walking out the door this morning and I heard my fridge making burning sounds. I opened up the back and can see that there is about to be a fire and smoke started coming from everywere. I unpluged it and started looking around. I see were its coming from around the area were this part is at ap3885081. I touched some wires and they are shorting out. Can you help me figure it out? Its on the back of the compressor.

Latest Questions

The fridge was running warm and I could hear a click from the compressor. Bought and installed new start relay 8201786. Refrigerator still running warm. Start relay does not have a blue wire, but a capacitor that plugs directly into the relay. Do I also need to buy a new capacitor or could the compressor be shot? I also noticed that the new start relay rattled a bit when I shook it. Could I have gotten a bad relay? Thanks.

My Compressor will not start. I can visibly verify that the PTC was burned and is not working. Do you have the replacement for that part and if so is it combined with the overload protector in the same plastic housing?

I purchased part WPL 8201786, Start relay for my fridge which has an Embraco EGS 100HLC compressor. The instruction sheet for the part says it for EGY80 and EGY90 type compressors only. I was told that it would work with my compressor. I replaced the old compressor and plugged the fridge back in. It ran about 10 minutes then stopped. I unplugged it and waited a few minutes. I have plugged it in since then and it starts for 10 seconds, then stops. Please let me know if I need to replace this relay with another one made for a bigger compressor. Thank you.
