Hello, I rebuild my 15 year old Icemaker by installing a new Compressor, Evaporator, and Water Solinoid Valve. In my shop it started up right and produced Ice in an Hour. Once installed in the House it has been very slow or little performance at all. After leaving it for a month it still has Refrigeration Pressure. It will chill the Evaporator but at a slow rate. It has 7 oz of Freon 134a. The evaporator freezes thickest in the middle an indication it has enought refrigerant. Thinking I might of had a short lived compressor I just replaced it again. 3 hrs on a Vacume Pump. Installing the Freon it took an Hour to draw in 7 oz. Slow performance again. Compressor is running its getting warm on top. So my Question; The Compressor came with a diffrent Coil- Overload protector ? device but it didn't come with detailed instructions on what to do with it. I just used my old one off my original Compressor. Its hooked to the 3 Pins on the side of the compressor. My Icemaker only has 2 wires a black and white. Should I be useing the new upgrade with my new Compressor. If so what diffrence should it make, if its running now how would it have reduced performance? Its Single Phaze so it can't run backwards or slower. Thanx....
Answer Richard, based on your post description, The evaporator should have an even frost/ chill pattern on the complete evaporator. Not a, heavy frost in the center, and lighter pattern on the outer edges. There are a couple of possibilities, The evaporator has a floating restriction, due to non condensables, or liquid in the evaporator. The reversing valve or solenoid could be faulty and allowing a minor heat leak, and the system could be " overcharged" creating a pressure flow issue with the refrigerant. It's doubtfull, you have a leak or an issue with the compressor. Thanks and Good Luck

Answer Hi Ray. Basically the manufacturer pre determined compressor oil fill level. They (compressors) are all fitted per sealed system freon need size combined with the length and the diameter of the tube size. Under fill and over fill is extremely detrimental.
