Hi , Lee, again ! sorry, about the mist understanding . My Crosley Refrigerator, is a side by side frig & freezer . Open frig-side door, notice that it wasn't as cool, as should be . But the temp, stayed about same, 50 degrees. The freezer, I notice it was cold, & the ice maker, made very little ice ! The back wall of the freezer, had frost, on it . The Condenser Fan & Compressor are working . At this point, I unplugged the unit, let defrost . After, let defrost, I notice, that the frig-side temp, would get cold, again & stay cold for a little while. I could feel, the cold coming in from the freezer side. Frig, temp would get to about 40 degrees ! Time wise, this must have lasted about 8 hours, then the frig, was back at 50 degrees, and holding ! I went threw this cycle, three time, and came up with same symptom ! So, I unplugged, the unit again and let defrost for a day ! I turned the Temp Control , put setting to "0" for both frig & freezer. After day, plug-in unit, (nothing) both Compressor or fan motor, not working ! Should I change, temp from "0" setting ?

Answer Lee,
You would want to turn the temp control onto the mid way point of 4 or 5. Even though you defrosted the unit by unplugging the unit, this still does not get back to what is causing the issue. You will want to check the continuity of the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. If either does not have continiuty then it needs to be replaced. You will have to check the continuity of the thermostat when it is cold. If both check ok then you would need to replace the defrost control.
It's a side by side notice that frig not cool, as it should be. Freezer, side is cold, but notice frost, on back panel . Ice maker, make very little ice . I unplugged it to defrost it . I went threw this cycle , three times . Same, re-action all three times . All three times, my compressor & Fan motor were on. Turned temp control knobs setting to 'O' degree for both sides. Forth time I plugged in ," nothing" ! Frig & freezer, sides lights-up, but the fan & compressor, wont come on . Why would the "fan motor, & Compressor , go at the same time ? Thanks Lee

Answer Lee,
It sounds like you may have put the unit into a defrost cycle in which the evaporator fan, condenser fan and compressor would not run. If you are seeing frost on the back wall of the freezer then this would indicate a defrost failure. By turning the control knobs to the off postion then turn back on and doing this a couple of times may have put unit into defrost. You will want to pull the rear cover off the freezer compartment and check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat for continuity. If there is no continuity then they are bad and need to be replaced. If the coils are frosted and the heater and thermostat are good then you would need to replaced defrost control.
