Hi, My lower drying drum light bulb quit working last week. I ordered a replacement light bukd directly from Whirlpool, but they sent a large bulb (part A3167501). The bulb is gold on the bottom rather than silver. I found the replacement bulb on your site, but wonder if the bulb is the issue. When I put the bulb above in, the light still does not come on. And, the panel does not automatically come on when the drum door is opened, but the panel does light when the drying cabinet door is opened. Do I have a bigger issue here and need to replace the Console with membrane part? Shawn P

Answer Hello Shawn. Based on the information you provided, the door switch 53-0148 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

All the lights on the console have an input. They change constantly. Also the time on the upper and lower cabinet change. The only way you can stop it is to flip the breaker. The buttons seem to work but you can't get the right input. They change on there own. How do I know if my problem is the logic board or the console or if it is a relay down by the motor? Thanks, Don

Answer Hello Don, It sounds like unit may in demo mode. To exit demo mode unplug unit 20 to 30 seconds, plug back in and press both off buttoms for 5 seconds.

This Maytag unit will suddenly start to run on its own, without any manual input. I believe that the trouble is in the control panel or logic board, any ideas before I spend to much money on repair? Should I replace just one or the other or should I replace both?

Answer Bob, If you have a multi meter you should test the touchpad ribbon tracers. another way to check, would be to disconnect the ribbon from the logic board, re apply power and wait a few days and see if the unit starts on it's own( works if you have the time and don't have a meter). The most common issue for a complaint like yours is the control panel 31001658.

Answer Hello Bob. If there is power to the control board, but nothing going out to the console, replace the board 31001562. If there is power going out, replace the console 31001658. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. The on/off button does not work on the bottom dryer. Does the console include the logic board? Or would I have to buy the logic board and the console? In some areas around the buttons, the sticky pad is coming up. I don't know if I need to replace both the logic board and the console (because piece is coming up) or if the console includes the logic board. Please help.

Answer Hello Mel! The console assembly 31001658 does not include the logic board 31001562. If the buttons are coming off on the console you may only have to replace the console itself as that is what sends the signal to the board. Hope this information helps.
