The freezer at the coldest setting hovers around 32. When you wiggle the thermostat it kicks on and runs for a while. Damper to Fridge is open but does get very cool.
Answer Hello Doug. You need to make sure the condenser coils are clean and the condenser fan motor is running. If all of that is good, it could be the freezer control 67005335 causing the issue with the unit.
My Amana side by side Refrigerator thermostat may need replacement. The unit works, but stays on too long, sometimes for more than an hour. This occurs even at the lowest setting. The door seals are all ok, and the compressor seems to work fine. Do you think the thermostat is the problem?
Answer Hello Perry,
The thermostat could be sticking since this is a fairly common problem with all thermostats but before you buy any parts you should clean the condenser coils. If they are dirty, the sealed system has a hard time dissipating the heat removed from the inside of the unit. The condenser fan blade should be cleaned also since lint and dust tends to accumulate on the leading edge of the blade.
The freezer is blowing cold but there is no cold coming into the fridge side?
You will want to pull the cover off of the control area in the refrigerator compartment and check to see if the damper assembly 12571701 is open. If not then you have a bad damper and it will need to be replaced. You will also want to check for frost build up on the rear wall of the freezer compartment. If there is frost build up then you will need to check the thermostat 67004757 and the heater 67004948 for continuity. If they don't have continuity then you will need to replaced that part. If there is continuity then you will need to replace the defrost control 67004704.
