I have an Amana refrigerator, ATB2135HR. The freezer temperature only gets to 28 degrees even though temperature control is all the way to 9 (coldest setting). The coils are NOT frozen and the defrost cycle appears to be okay. How do I test the temperature control to know if I need part AP4068700?
You will want to check to make sure that the evaporator fan is running, also check to make sure that there is a light frost build up on the evaporator coils. If there is no frost build up on the coils then check to make sure that the condenser fan motor is running and that the compressor is running. If the condenser fan is not running then it will need to be replaced if there is 120 vac getting to it. This could also cause the compressor to shut down prematurely. If this checks ok and the compressor is running then the issue will be in the sealed system.
Refrigerator won't stop running. I opened up the back, but did not find ice on the coils, only a chunk of ice inside the water intake line, which in reality shouldn't have ice inside of it, since it's not hooked up for ice manufacture.
There is a lot of water in the drain pan at the bottom of the unit,
The unit cools the fresh food area, as well as cools the freezer, but a small build up of ice is present in the freezer, which then will melt, and also inside the fridge a certain amount of water condensation collects on the inside of containers and also on the milk.
What's going on here?
Answer Brett, You will need to remove the control panel housing 61004643 from the ceiling of the fresh food compartment, and check the auto damper assembly 61005543 to see if it opens and closes when subjected to heat(hold it in your hand) and cold(place an ice cube on the tubing) if the damper operates properly, then check or replace the cold control 61002043.
