My Freezer is fine at 10°F but the fresh food temperature at the coldest setting stays at 41°F. Whatever the setting it's 41°F. All seems ok in the back. Do you think it's the thermostat?
Answer Hello Roy,
You need to drop the control assembly and check the damper assembly. The freezer being a good temperature but the fresh food section not is an indication of a lack of air circulation. This could also be the freezer fan (evaporator fan motor) in a state of failure. The other thing that can be causing this is a frozen defrost drain that has caused the ice formation to block the air ducts to the fresh food compartment.
I have an Amana refrigerator, ATB2135HR. The freezer temperature only gets to 28 degrees even though temperature control is all the way to 9 (coldest setting). The coils are NOT frozen and the defrost cycle appears to be okay. How do I test the temperature control to know if I need part AP4068700?
You will want to check to make sure that the evaporator fan is running, also check to make sure that there is a light frost build up on the evaporator coils. If there is no frost build up on the coils then check to make sure that the condenser fan motor is running and that the compressor is running. If the condenser fan is not running then it will need to be replaced if there is 120 vac getting to it. This could also cause the compressor to shut down prematurely. If this checks ok and the compressor is running then the issue will be in the sealed system.
