Answer Hello Glen, This isn't really that hard to do. I'll give you a quick rundown of the job. Of course the first thing to do is to discontinue the power supply. You may have to slide the unit out a bit to remove the top but sometimes this can be avoided. Before you get into the job, go ahead and spread out some towels or a quilt to avoid damage to the table, counter top or other work surface. Remove the three or four screws along the front. These are accessed by opening the oven door and the screws run in straight up. This allows you to raise the top. Now with the top partially raised, manipulate the top so the rear of the top disengages from the rear hinge points. Slide the top forward so you can look down behind the main top. there should be one or two white molex connectors that need to be disconnected. Now you can lift the main top off of the unit. Carry the main top to your work area and set it down in the upside down position next to the new top. Remove the screws that secure the elements to the main top. I always flip two of the elements over on top of the other two elements so I can pick them up off of the old cook top and transfer them over to the new main top. Be sure not to loose any screws as they are all needed to reassemble. After the elements are secured to the new cooktop, check to ensure that no wires have been knocked off. Then look along the edges for the "maintop glides". These are little plastic "feet" that support the rear of the main top and are very important for leveling purposes. Now all that has to be done is to flip the new assembly and set it on the unit a little forward than it's installed position so you can access the white molex connectors for the power supply to the cooktop assembly. Now manipulate the cooktop back into the hinge points. You will be able to tell if it's positioned correctly when the holes for the front screws line back up. Reinstall the screws along the front of the main top and reestablish power to the unit. Test all of the surface units to make sure they are all operational and the job is complete. This may sound like a lot, but it really isn't that bad. It isn't a bad idea to wear gloves during this procedure for two reasons. For one, the cooktop will have greasy places along the edges and this can cause you to drop it or the new one. The other reason is that there are some edges that can cut you. No other parts are necessary.
