We purchased a new kitchen aid cooktop to replace our old one that cracked but the new cooktop has a different way to connect. The number of pins are different and therefore cannot connect the new one to the old plug in. Can you help?
Answer Hello Jennifer,
The cord connections are basic. Red and Black are L1 and L2. They always connect to the two outside terminals. White is neutral and always connects to the center terminal. The green wire is for the chassis ground. This will connect to the units' chassis. It can only connect to the center terminal if there is a metal strap from the center terminal to ground. If the unit has no strap from the center terminal to ground, it will have to connect to ground. There will either be a green ground screw to secure it to or a hole for a screw with the ground symbol by it.
