We have a new cook top, PN AP4356457, but having trouble removing the old one. It's mounted in a granite counter top, the screws that seem to hold it to the "box" are not readily accessible. Can we remove the entire stove by disconnectine the exhaust fan? Not sure how to proceed here. Thanks. Mark Erickson, cell: 712 363 0171
Answer Mark, Yes, You will need to remove the assembly from the countertop. Here's some help : "Main Top Removal 1. Shut off gas supply and disconnect electricity to unit. 2. Remove grates, caps, and knobs. NOTE: To remove knob(s), slide a rag under the knob and pull upward.
3. Remove cooktop from installation position and place on protected surface. 4. Remove screws securing burner base to orifice holder.
5. Lift upward on burner base, disconnect ignitor wire, and remove burner base. 6. Remove main top by lifting off. NOTE: Top is secured with double-sided tape in front. 7. Reverse procedure to reinstall." A couple of 1X2's may come in handy, Once you disconnect the duct work, and raise the cooktop high enough, you can use them to hold the cooktop up to access the cooktop screws. Good Luck and Thanks
