Note: This question is for the older version of this part, but we thought you might still find it helpful
Is the glass cooktop basicaslly installed by just replacing it and possibly using heat sensitive silicone to adhere it? Do you sell the adhesive or does the new cooktop you sell come with an adhesive?
Thanks, Steve

Answer Hello Steve,
I never use anything to "adhere" the cooktop to the countertop. The purpose of putting something around it is to prevent spills from going under the cooktop and to also provide a heat barrier so the countertop doesn't discolor. I have never liked using a tube of stuff as it makes the removal for service extremely difficult. Removal of a cooktop that has been siliconed in heightens the probability of breaking the glass top during removal for service.
The manufacturer recommends foam tape 12002793. This allows the unit to set properly on uneven surfaces and prevents spills from getting between the cooktop and countertop. As per manufacturers installation instructions, peel off the paper strip to expose the tapes adhesive side and stick it to the bottom of the cooktop, not the countertop. The new glass does not come with the foam tape.
