Takes 20 minutes longer to dry cloths than normal. Vent is clear!
Answer Hello David. Remove the cover on the blower hosing and see if the blower wheel Y303836 is bad or stripped out and needs to be replaced or if that needs to be cleaned in there. If so, this can cause the issue you are having with the unit.
I have a matag LDG8300AAW gas Dryer not shure how old.
The problem is no heat the igniter heats up and glows red and stays on but
the burner dose not light what could be the problem?
cycling thermostat or?
Answer Hello Richard. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. Also, make sure the coils on the unit are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter and make sure it is getting hot enough to light the gas. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
My Maytag Dryer is no longer heating up. First I thought it was my igniter because that has broken before. But the igniter was not cracked, so I assumed it was not the problem (BTW, I replaced it anyways since it's been 8 years since the last time it was replaced). Then I checked the my gas coils and those register the correct resistance. The next check was the cycling thermostat. Based on a previous posting, the check for the thermostat was to 'check for continuity'. But the posting did not state if all leads should have continuity. It turns out that one of the leads from the temperature switch does not have continuity while the other 3 do. Can you confirm that all 4 leads supposed to have continuity. Thanks, Dan
Answer Dan, That style thermostat should have a "closed" circuit across the two larger terminals at room temperature, and an open circuit at 155 degrees. the smaller terminals should have a resistance of 2400 ohms,at room temperature,It's actually a miniature heater coil. You do have to have the wires disconnected or you may get a false reading. Your high limit thermostat will check out in the same mannner, wires off, across the two terminals, there should be a "closed" circuit at room temp. Thanks and Good Luck
