This is a question about the damper. I have to pull apart my fridge today to find where and why water was leaking inside the fridge. I already new it was coming from the freezer area at least. Anyway, I think I got that issue fixed.
Now, the damper part. I noticed that there is a door that is to open and close depending on what number I set the fridge side of cooling. After sliding the adjuster back and forth, I did not see the damper door close at all. I noticed that on the mechanical part there is a stick thing that seems to be spring loaded and it's pushing the door open.
Why is it that when I slide the adjuster, the damper does not seem to work (open/close door)
Also, why is it that there's only a little bit of air that comes from the freezer to cool the fridge?
Answer James, For the leak, look at the drain spout on the end of the control panel assembly, they occasionally crack and leak, then check the defrost drain and pan in the freezer copartment. Chances are, with the leak, your auto damper has failed, and is not opening and closing properly 61002092 . The air temperature, and air flow causes the temperature bulb to react and open when the fresh food compartment gets warm, and it closes when the desired temperature is reached, but the door never completely closes. I think you'll find the issues in one of the areas I mentioned. Good Luck.
I have water accumulating under the crispers. Drain lines are clear. Could this mean I need a new damper kit?
Answer Hello Dennis. If the water is coming from the damper assembly, then you will need to check and see if the drip pan 61004861 is not draining the water into the drain pipe, and leaking into the damper. Hope this helps.
