My freezer keeps everything frozen but fridge part not cold @ all. No air flow to fridge. Frost forming in back of freezer's wall. Motor doesn't seem to be stopping for defrost cycle. Should I replace Defrost Heater, Defrost Thermostat or Defrost Control?
It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
refrigerator and freezer not staying cold. had tech out. compressor not working put in a bypass and compressor now coming on and freezer is cold. refrigerator staying at 62. tech had the panel off in the freezer compartment and said everything ok on that side. what is my most likely culprit?
Answer Carrie, If the tech checked everything in the freezer compartment, including the evaporator fan and motor 61005339, then you'll need to remove the ceiling in the refrigerator compartment and check or replace the auto damper 61005991 on the left side wall. The door of the damper could be "stuck" closed, or the diaphragm has failed and not allowing the cold air to enter the refrigerator compartment.
