But as I stated in my initial question, BOTH TIMER KNOB AND DIAL SPINS FREELY EVEN PUSHED DOWN . the knob pushes in pulls out to on/off, but I just can't turn the timer the way I supposed to do. I'm not sure if the knob is broken or dial, or both are broken. Should I use traumatic force(like hammer and chisel) to release(break) the timer knob? Thanks again for your help. Steve

Answer Hello Steve. If the shaft free turns, you, will need to try and use needle nose pliers to hold the shaft while you remove the knob. It would be best to have the timer in the on position, shaft pulled out, to do this. Once removed, the timer must be replaced, and also the knob if damaged. Hope this helps.

I already read the question and answer above. I need to remove the timer dial, so I can replace it. I'm not sure if the knob needs to be replaced or dial to timer. The knob just spins, but the timer itself is not turning. I need to know exactly how to remove the knob and timer dial. I did try to pull the knob and tried to turn it, but it just spins won't come off. I don't know which one needs to be replaced. Thanks for your help. Steve

The replacement timer knob and timer dial look different than the original - which has a plastic vertical stem attached to the timer knob (which broke off) - the old dial does not slide off - the vertical stem still pulls up and down to turn the washer on and off - does that stem unscrew somehow? Thanks

Answer Hello James. Yes, the part that broke off the timer knob unscrews off the the timer shaft. Once removed, the dial pulls off the shaft. Hope this helps.
