What would happen if the upper part of the diffuser has degradated(crumbled).

Answer JL, If the degraded styrofoam, fell into the diffuser, the pieces would restrict the air flow and cause a loss of cooling in the refrigerator compartment. It could also cause the compressor to run for extended periods, in an attempt to reach temperature in the refrigerator. Thanks and Good Luck
How do I remove the diffuser ?

Answer Hello George. You will need to remove the back wall inside the freezer and the control panel from the inside of the refrigerator. You may need to use hot water to thaw out the diffuser 2221992, and push it out of the liner. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps.
