On my whirlpool fride when the water line for the fridge is turned on water flows out of the water dispenser without having the dispenser lever depressed and when the lever is pressed you can hear the switch click but it makes no difference to the water flow, but the ice maker and lever function properly.

Answer Hello Brad. Test for power to the water valve. If none is there, you will replace the water valve. If there is power there, you check the switch and see if it needs to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I have a dual water valve, one ice one water. Ice works fine water doesn't even make a sound or give water ?

Answer Hi Michael. First you will want to test the micro switch 2162361 Check at the valve, when the dispenser is pressed, and see if your getting voltage to the valve. If no voltage is present, the switch may be bad. If it's okay then you will need to replace the water valve 4318046. Hope this helps!
