I think the right part I need is #3, not #7. It is the seal that keeps the water in the tub, not the thinner outer one. Please inform me as soon as possible. Thanks, Rich
Answer Hello Rich,
The door gasket kit 8193942 is the part that prevents water from splattering all over the kitchen. The outer frame seal W10179427 keeps things from getting past the edge of the dishwasher into the cabinet space. If I understand the question correctly, this should answer your question.
THE PART I HAVE 8193942 DOES NOT HAVE A GROOVE TO FIT OVER THE FLANGE ON THE BODY OF THE DISHWASHER SO THAT WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED IT WILL MAKE IT SQUEEZE THE GASKET BETWEEN THE BODY OF THE WASHER AND THE DOOR. ONCE I PUT THE CEMENT ON THE DOOR/GASKET WILL IT STILL BE RETURNABLE? IT JUST DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT WILL WORK PROPERLY IF AT ALL.
Answer Tom, As long as you follow the instructions that come in the kit, you should be fine. You may want to "clean" the tub flange, where the gasket adheres to it, with a little bit of rubbing or denatured alcohol first. If you do need to return the part, there should be no problems, APP has a "no hassle" return policy for the part, but you will be responsible for the return shipping.
I too ordered the part 8193942. It is too big. I thought that over time, holding the door shut with a stick it would get better. I got tired of this and ordered the door strike and door latch it still pops open. Any great ideas?
Answer Hello Debbie. When installing the gasket 8193942, you should use a putty knife to seat the gasket into the channel. It can take time for these to form to the shape of the door. You can try heating the gasket, closing the door tightly and let it cool down to help form the gasket.
