I had to replace my inner door glass due to breakage.I also needed to replace the hinges. The hinge #4452343 is supposedly been changed to #4455526. After Assembling with new part's and hanging the door, upon opening the door fully the new hinges bound on the door liner bottom and tore the metal on the door liner bottom!! Door will not open fully without further damaging the door liner and will not close because of the torn metal. There is no adjustment on the hinges. Don't know what's up. Thank's Tim

I have the same lower oven hinge problem and have replaced them three times in the past 6 months, and at least twice before that in the past couple of years. Same part # as the one listed here (4455526), the correct one for the stainless model. The service guy (factory authorized) also replaced a "receiver kit" the last time (part #8185503), but no help. I am super careful with this door, but after two months the hinges are toast. What's odd is the problem is getting worse. When I bought the house in 2007 I needed to replace the hinges at the time, then again every couple of years or so. But now its every couple of months. The oven is a 2002 model and is so far out of warrantee that KitchenAid won't support it. After quite a while on the phone with a service KA supervisor I got an offer for a 10% discount on a new one. Now what?

I replaced the two original oven door hinge springs back in March because the door would not close all the way. A few weeks ago the same problem came up again and I call APP.com and they sent me a new set of the same hinges (Item #AP3083224 for stainless steel doors). These new hinges have been in place since then and just today the problem is back. Nothing, heavy or otherwise, was placed on the open door. As a matter of fact, the oven was maybe used twice since the last hinge replacement. Can you please give me some insite as to why this problem keeps coming back? I find it heard to believe that I am installing them incorrectly, since it is a very straight forward installation. I also can't believe that I received two bad hinges in a row. Thnx

Latest Questions

A year ago my oven door stopped closing all of the way, leaving the light on. I replaced both springs in the door, and it worked fine. Come tonight, it stopped shutting all the way again. Is it possible the springs went bad that quickly, or could it be something else? The door will close fine if I push it in, so I don't think it is the latch -- just not enough tension on the springs.
