I tried to use the self-clean on the oven and got Error Code: F5E1. This seems to indicate the door latch has a problem. Is there anything I should try before ordering a new latch? Is this something a semi-handy person can install without much difficulty? Thanks!

The range door would not lock for cleaning and I was getting error E1-F5 so I purchased the lock latch assembly Part# AP3968900 which fixed that problem. However, I still have to occasionally pull the door latch when I press the bake button to get the oven to operate. My question is should I also purchase the Door latch part number AP3799718, or could this be another problem?

My oven was nearly finished baking when it turned off and started beeping and showed a F5E1 error code. It seems that it is a problem with the door latch, it keeps moving on its own accord and turning off the light inside the oven and the light on the display signaling the door is locked keeps turning on and off. I'm sure I do need to order this part http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-door-latch-9761013-ap3799718.html#autoplay but am wondering if I just take the latch out completely if that will get me by until the part comes in? I'm not trying to clean the oven, I just want to bake dinner, lol. Also, do I need to unplug the oven to get it to stop beeping and the lights from coming on every few minutes? I hit "cancel" when the beeping starts again, but within a couple minutes it starts the vicious cycle all over again.

Error E1 and F5 lit up and top and bottom heating elements wouldn't go on. Instructions said that the door latch was jammed. We followed instruction and door latch "released", but the heating elements wouldn't go back on. Does that mean the door latch assembly is broken or could it be something else?
