Washing machine works if lid is dropped. I think the lid switch is the problem. Will this come with instructions for my husband to fix? Not sure how to get the top off?

I have a switch with this part number (661517) but it only has one wire terminal on each side. This picture indicates two terminals on one side. Is this the same part?

Latest Questions

The lid switch went on my dryer. I bought the replacement part # 279347 (that part # replaced the original part # 3392266). When I got the new part # 279347 but the metal connections to the new part are smaller than what they need to connect to on the dryer. Do I need to rewire to get this new part in?

My Whirlpool electric dryer will only run if I'm pulling on the timer knob. While it's running the drum will spin, heat will build up and it appears to operate normally. But I have to be pulling on the timer knob for the dryer to be running. If I let go then it will just shut off. I can then press the start button again, pull on the timer knob and it starts running again. But when I let go of the timer knob it shuts right off. I've tested the fuse, but it still shuts down in the same fashion when the fuse is bypassed. I'm assuming that replacing the timber will fix the issue, but was hoping to get your input first. Thanks.
