Thank you for the suggestion that worn damper pads may be contributing to the high vibration during the spin cycle. How difficult is it to remove the transmission & damper assembly in order to access the pads? It appears the drive pulley must be removed from the transmission shaft. Is this a major task?

The washer will not spin when any clothes in basket, however, after removing clothes it will spin. It spins a little with one (1) wet towel in the basket. Do not know how to remove front for repair. Looking underneath, also found a gasket or belt hanging just above motor about 5" -7" in diameter.

Hi, I like this forum. My washer machine is burning the drive belt (first noticed in spin cycle, but could be in agitation as well). Both pulleys on motor turn freely without a belt and when the pump alone is turning. Without belt, Pump Pulley is turning freely. Without Belt, Drive pulley spins freely and easily in the ccw direction (looking up point of view) = all day long. However, Drive pulley spins freely, then engages in the cw direction(looking up point of view) after 4-6 full continuous rotations (it appears that the pulley is actually raising up closer to the transmission). When it engages, it takes a lot of force to rotate the tub. When I let go of the pulley, it is like it is spring loaded and it spins cw for about 1-2 rotations. I believe that this "hard spot" is what is causing the belt to slip and burn. I removed the agitator from inside of tub - there is nothing holding it up. How do I determine if this is bearing or transmission or other? What do you recommend replacing?

Thank you for the previous advice. So it seems I am going to need AP4372971bearing Kit AP253016 seal kit as well as the recomended spanner wrench. While I am at it should I put in a new belt??? At 7 years + and I will have the machine open? Also, I am a very handy guy, can I do this on my own and is there a resource for detailed instructions on how to replace these parts? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thomas

Happy Monday, Over weekend probably overloaded washer a bit w/ quilt and my wife said "it like a high pitched screech for a couple of seconds and by the time I got there, there was smoke coming out of bottom of washer and a burnig rubber smell" (i am the one guilty of overloading). I was able to run loads through last night and it seema alright except for spin cycles. It sounds funny and a slight burned rubber smell comes out of machine. Any Thoughts, Thanks for the haelp:) Thomas Fix

The washer agitator quit turning, washer will spin out, have replaced the drive belt and adjusted the pump belt. I can see the drive belt try to turn the agitator, it turns and locks up. I turn the drive pulley by hand, it seems to be freer at 3/4 of a turn of the pulley, then it seems tighter for 1/4 of a turn then frees up again. What could be the problem?
