Have old whirlpool with stubborn drive block #96384 . nut is off . inner basket will not budge. is it stuck to the old drive block? it moves vertically a little then stops as if being retained
Answer Diyguy, Yes the spin basket is "stuck" to the drive block, and the drive block is stuck to the drive tube. There are a couple of things to try first. Spray a little WD40 between the drive block and the tub housing, let it set a while. Then try to wobble the tub back and forth and up and down to try and break it loose from the drive block. You can also try inserting a heavy shafted screwdriver into the slot of the drive block and try to separate the block enough to remove both the tub and block off the tube.
How to take off drive block AP 2914767 down and inesrt new part back, and is it seal inside of this block which goes with new part?
Answer Hello Pero. You will need to remove the cabinet off the washer and remove the tub cover off the tub assembly. Then remove the agitator out of the unit and remove the nut off the spline. Now you can lift the inner basket out and replace the drive block 96384. There is no seal inside the drive block. Hope this helps.
