Hi, Good morning. I ordered and received a new dryer belt. I put it on, but when I run the dryer the belt won't stay on the track the old belt
was on. Can you think of anything I did wrong. I am about to redo it.
Thank you Teresa Domergue
Answer Teresa, make sure the belt is not twisted and that the idler is in the proper position, and the belt rides as close to center on the idler pulley as possible. There may be a slight difference in the belt path (1/4 in. or so) but not like you're describing. Then check and make sure the drum was installed in the same direction / position as when it was removed. You may have "flipped" the drum without knowing it.
If the dryer is screeching, but the belt isn't broken. Will changing the belt still fix it?
Answer Hello Paddy. No, most likely the bearing, rollers, glides, or idler pulley is making the noise.
