The dryer timer stopped working, the drier would start and dry but the timer will not advance, does not matter if it's on timed dry or intelli dry. So I replaced the timer with part# 33002803 but it didn't help. Do I need to replace the dryness display assembly?

I have a Maytag dryer Model#MDE9606AYW with a control knob that doesn't advance from any position to shut off the dryer. The dryer is otherwise operational - it heats, rotates, etc... but must be turned off by manually rotating the control knob to an off position. The control knob will not advance in neither the timed modes nor the moisture sensor modes. I've seen references from others with similar sounding issues that it may be related to a dryness display assembly and others saying it may be connected to a timer motor.

I've got a Maytag Atlantis dryer with a bad timer. The model is MDE8400AYQ and the serial number is 19048083CL. There are three different options for the timer. I've been given two different part numbers of the three available: AP4042962 and AP4042974. One lady said she blew out a circuit board because she was given the wrong part number and the wiring harness should have been changed with the new timer. I would like to know the correct part number before ordering and also if the harness has to be changed on the model that I have. If it is of any help, here are the numbers on the factory timer: 3111B MAYTAG 6 3720670 M285, KINGSTON 70959-A02367. Thanks, Lyle
