The only response from Electronic Control above ICE\water dispenser is several beeps when pressing any of the control buttons. Will not switch between crush and cube modes. The LED is operating, but all buttons seem to be locked with only beeping response. All was fine until Ice door flap was sticking and had to clean with warm water and Windex. May have gotten on control board triggered this. Any Ideas or suggestions? Hate to blow $200 on a new board unless absolutely necessary. Does this sound like a bad control board?
Answer Hello M.D.,
Give this a try. Unplug the unit or turn off the breaker. Disassemble the dispenser and use electrical contact cleaner TJCC-1 on the board to remove any residue the Windex left behind. Before reinstalling it, use a hair dryer on the board. Don't get it too hot, just get it dry. If there was damage incurred, this won't reverse the damage, but most that stopped working from water that didn't have damage to the microprocessor will operate normally when dry. Also, if I were going to attempt the repair myself, I would replace the complete assembly W10151236. This may well prevent a return trip into the unit.
the refrigerator is on but the ice maker display is totally off, is this the electronic control board.
Answer Ricardo, Are you sure the dispenser is not in the "lock out" mode. The next check should be at the freezer door hinge, make sure the dispenser wire harness it tight and there are no loose wire connections. If alls OK, you'll need to remove the dispenser cover and check for voltage to the control board at the P1 wire connector pin 4 white and pin 1 blue/black, should have 120 VAC across the wires. We're sending you more information that should be more helpful. Good Luck and Thanks
