I have a Jenn Air cooktop that one eye has failed. The large eye isn't heating and the red light around the switch remains lit even in the off position. Does this clarify what has failed, either the eye or the switch? Thanks
Answer Hello Kevin,
While this sounds like the switch will be the issue, there is also the possibility that the surface element could have failed and caused the switch failure. This will need to be checked to determine the exact cause of the failure.
Would I be correct in assuming that if a burner is not working, that element needs to be replaced? What if both elements on the same side are not working? It is the left side of my unit that is not working, the right side works fine. Could you also give me the part numbers for both elements. Thank you.
Answer Hello Cmoore, it's possible an element can fail but more common an infinite switch, though it would be strange for two to fail at the same time. I would check the wiring for something wrong there. You have the same infinite switch 74011242 for both left burners. Part numbers for the elements are left front element 74011190 and left rear element 74011192. Hope this helps!
