I ordered part AP4009116 (dual heating element) for my Maytag MER5870BAW Stove, and I am having the same issues as listed. I understand that the part changed slightly from what was in my stove. With that said how do I get the two remaining wires attached to the contact point on the new heating element? Is there a special connector that is sold to get both of these on the last piece? If a connector does not exist any suggestions on how to get this to work? Would soldering work? You would think when the engineers made the change they would have known they would have to make a connector so it would be possible for people to get this to work. Thanks.

Answer Hi. Element kit part # 12002144. Some terminals were relocated by the manufacturer. You'll need to remove the element and varify the terminal numbers in order to wire the element correctly. So, At the sensor assembly : 1A will have the single red wire from the infinite switch. 1B will have the double red wires common to all burner sensors. 2A is pre wired with the jumper tp the element common lead. 2B will have the double tan wires attached, common to all sensors and "hot Surface" lights. At the element side terminals, the terminal farthest from the sensor will have the yellow wire attached , this is the outer ring element circuit. The remaining wire will attach to the terminal closest to the sensor, this is the inner ring element terminal. And the middle terminal should have the "common' lead from the sensor attached to it.
I order a dual element (AP4009116) and I can't seem to get it wired properly. I had the inner element working but not the whole thing could you tell me how it's suppose to be wired.

Answer Adub, You probably have a crossed wire at the element sensor, especially if you went wire for wire. Good Luck and Thanks
