I ordered part AP4009116 (dual heating element) for my Maytag MER5870BAW Stove, and I am having the same issues as listed. I understand that the part changed slightly from what was in my stove. With that said how do I get the two remaining wires attached to the contact point on the new heating element? Is there a special connector that is sold to get both of these on the last piece? If a connector does not exist any suggestions on how to get this to work? Would soldering work? You would think when the engineers made the change they would have known they would have to make a connector so it would be possible for people to get this to work. Thanks.

I order a dual element (AP4009116) and I can't seem to get it wired properly. I had the inner element working but not the whole thing could you tell me how it's suppose to be wired.

Your answer was not specific enough as I had removed the leads from the old element and put them to the same leads BUT it did not work...so I removed two leads at a time swapping them around to see if I could get it to work...I am only able to get one circuit to work at a time...they should work together and then just the small element independent of the larger. I not longer have the original placement reference. Maybe the element is defective.

Latest Questions

What is the proper wiring of the front dual element AP4009116 on a Maytag MES5870AAB? The element supplied has a dual element, a small inner portion and an outer portion that wraps around the inner. The image that you use on your web site shows the OLD style connections. While the connection points are different than those on the original (two points fused rather than using a jumper wire, no problem). Placing the leads on the new connectors as on the old connectors the element does not function to have both elements on at the same time creating a large heating surface ? Can you, please, supply the proper lead conection (by Color) for the "new" element design?
