When replacing the shelf, you must remove the drive prong from the motor to reinstall. How? Don
Answer Hello Don,
The auger yoke is left handed threads so you have to tighten it off and loosen it back on. Also, because of the direction of rotation, it tightens itself every time ice is dispensed. This can seize it on pretty tight, I always use an adjustable wrench to grab the yoke and rap it with a hammer and this will impact it loose. Be sure to remember that the threads are reversed so you turn it clockwise to loosen and counterclockwise to tighten.
I am replacing part #AP4071296 and the problem I have is getting the yoke which is 2 inches wide to go through the 1/2 inch hole. Does the yoke have to be unscrewed from the motor?
Answer Hello Alex,
The yoke does have to be unscrewed from the motor to get it out. Remember that the yoke is left handed threads so you have to tighten it off. Also, I have found that these things get really tight. I mean really tight. The easiest way to break them loose is to put a wrench into the yoke and rap it with a hammer to "impact" it loose. Wear gloves and use a towel on you work surface to prevent causing yourself more damage than necessary.
