I had what seemed to be a bad Capilary or low pressure line coming from the evaporator. A sniffer revealed this. When I changed them, I removed the Evaporator and Soldered the new lines to the evaporator on the work bench. Problem was, moving the evaporator with both lines attached back to the freezer. The weight of a few feet of the lines allowed the copper lines, now at a right angle to the evaporator, to rotate a bit in the aluminum evaporator lines. Needless to say there appears to be a slow leak at the junction. See the evaporator # 4357282 detail: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-evaporator-4357282-ap3105691.html If I were to purchase a new Evaporator, it comes with short stubs which DO NOT appear long enough to poke through the rear of the freezer so that I might solder to the stubs on the rear of the freezer. There seems to be no solution to this problem. Do you know of a reasonable solution?

Answer Hello Bob. The evaporator 4-81546 has to be installed inside the freezer using heat shield to prevent melting the freezer walls. This is the only way to install it into the unit.
