Will the evaporator fan motor not running cause freezer and fresh food to be too cold?
Answer Hello. No, if the evaporator fan motor is not running, the fresh food would get warm and so would the freezer. Hope this helps.

My freezer is temperature is 20 degrees below zero in spite of putting the control at plus 5 degrees. The refrigerator side seems to follow it's setting correctly. I replaced the diverter about 6 months ago and everything was working fine, what do you think this problem is? P.S. this extreme low temperature seems to be causing problems with the icemaker too. Answer Hello Dave, do you notice the unit running more often than normal? It's quite possible one of the thermistor's may be the problem. There is one in the fresh food section and one in the freezer section. They are the devices that give the control a reading to tell the compressor to cycle on and off. They should be located in the area of where the air diffuser is located. Some refer to it as the damper and I think it's what you're referring to as the diverter. Both the freezer and refrigerator use the same part # 2188819
