I'm interested in using the fan and motor from this assembly as convection fan in a dehydrator I am modifying. The dehydrator works well enough except it heats unevenly and I am forced to rotate racks both vertically and horizontally throughout a dehydrating cycle. This motor appears to be a shaded pole motor. My research has led me to believe I can wire it to a solid state variable speed AC motor controller and then to an electrical plug. In effect, controlling it entirely independent of my dehydrator. My questions are as follows: 1. Most of the shaded pole convection fan motors I've seen only have 2 wires. Why does this have 3? 2. Does this third wire make this motor unsuitable for its use as I have discussed? 3. If this motor IS suitable, how should it be wired? I have 10 dehydrators in use and if this works as I pray, I will be modifying them all. This fix could relieve many headaches and extra work for us! Thanks much for your help! Best regards, Ken

The convection fan doesn't run when stove on Convect. I removed the fan and it works on the bench.

Do you have to install the convection fan assembly from the rear of the range or can it be installed from inside the oven cavity?

Latest Questions

I replaced the oven sensor. However, when the oven was set to bake at 350 degrees the bottom element heated up and turned off when the control reached the desired temperature. The convection element remained on and the oven heated up to over 450 degrees before we manually canceled the operation. Would replacing the Fan-Convection part correct the problem?
