Answer Hello Mary, you are correct your seal must have come loose and ended up where it does not belong. You can replace it with a new seal kit 279857 that comes with adhesive to keep it in place. This should remedy your problem. Thanks!

Answer Hello Ed! Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not offer the felt seals separate from the drum assembly W10296563 and we are unaware of any company that manufacturers the seal for this unit. Sorry about that!

Answer Brian, Yes this drum seal, will fit the tumbler drum of the model number you supplied. Remember to clean the drum surface thoroughly.preferrably with alcohol,CAREFULLY apply a coat of adhesive to the drum, and a coat of adhesive to the inside of the seal and allow both to set for a few minutes, then install the seal to the drum and press the seal into the adhesive the complete circumference of the drum. Allow 24 hours for the adhesive to set before using the dryer. Thanks and Good Luck

Answer Hello Dairyguy. It is not hard. Remove the screws under the lint filter. Then release the two clips in the front of the dryer. Raise the top of the dryer. Remove the two screws holding the front panel in place, and unplug the door switch. Pull out and up on the front panel. You can now access the dryer drum. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps.
