The pump started whining tonight and I immediately suspected something in the pump. Taking off the lower spray arms it is nice and clean underneath (finish tabs with JetDry balls do a great job) but I noticed the nylon screens have come unsealed on a couple of the windows and I need to replace it. Who knows what got by the filter screen. What else should I look at replacing that could be responsible for the whine? How far to disassemble, clean and repair?

Answer Hello Swen. Check in the chopper assembly. If all is clear there, then you will need to replace the pump and motor assembly W10428168due to a bad bearing in the unit.

Most of my water is coming out of the microscopic filter and hardly no pressure through the bottom spray arm

Answer Hello Nolan. Check and make sure the filters on the unit are clean. If so, it sounds like there is not enough water coming in and the water valve 8283345 will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.

Hi, The filter was clogged with a "paper like" film. I completely removed the film and made sure that the sprayer arms were free of debris. With the latch sensor depressed and watching the machine fill then go to wash, I observed low pressure at the lower spray arm and no pressure at the upper spray arm. There was water movement in the basin where the filter screen is located. Is the filter screen supposed to have flow from inside the basket to the wash basin? Or is the water supposed to flow from the basin through the filter screen, then through the pump. I guess some knowledge on how the water flows through the system during the wash period and exactly how the filter screen performs would help me diagnose the problem so that I purchase the correct part(s). Answer Hello Paul. The water goes from the sump, through the impeller, out the pump outlet, through the spray arms, and drains back into the sump through the filter. You will need to check and make sure there is enough water coming into the machine for it to operate correctly. It should fill up close to the bottom of the heater. Hope this helps.

Answer Hello Dee. First remove the lower spray arm. Then you can remove the screws holding the pump outlet in place. Once the pump outlet is removed, you will see the screws holding the filter assembly in place. Remove these screws to remove the filter. On some models, the impeller will need to be removed to remove the filter. Hope this helps.

Hi, What are the symptoms of a bad Filter assembly(Part Number: AP3044335) I cleaned the screens on my Kenmore, now it seems to loose water pressure though the screens during wash. Some water flows through the lower spray arms(not enough to make it spin) and none reaches the upper sprayers. All connections and spray arms have been double checked and are free of blockage.

Answer Hello Paul. If the filter is clogged and not letting the water flow through fast enough, it can cause the spray pressure to be low. If you can not get it clean, you may have to replace it. Hope this helps.
