Our dishwasher has been leaking for some time. Just found it after hardwood floor started coming up a seams. It seems that water leaks from area where float is located. Not every wash cycle but most. Usually happens towards middle of cycle (not in beginning. A similar question was answered referring to the standpipe, not sure what that has to do with float. Totally different location so I don't think its that. Do I need to replace the float assembly? Something else? Thanks in advance. Chris

My dishwasher completes the task of washing the dishes but there is standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher when I open it up. I will then close the door and press the (Cancel , Drain) button and the washer will then empty out the rest of the water. If it only drains some of the water I will press it a second time and then it is always completely empty of water. I don't know what part is not functioning correctly. Evidently it stops the draining cycle to soon. What would be your professional opinion as to why it is only partially draining at first but then completely drains after I press the drain button a couple of more times?

Is the retainer supposed to come off the shaft of the float, or is it supposed to be permanently fixed to the bottom of the float shaft? Also, I have had a very large amount of water leak thru the stand pipe that the float sits in - has ruined the hardware flooring under the unit and I have no idea how long it has been leaking. It seems the unit fills OK but it is during the wash/rinse cycle that the leaking occurs right thru the float shaft pipe. Could this leak be explained at all by a malfunctioning microswitch? I assume the float activates the switch to turn the water off during filling. Does the fact that the water does in fact stop filling mean the microswitch and float are operating correctly? Thanks

Latest Questions

Not knowing any better, I pulled on the float and the bottom "retainer flange" broke off. I stuck the float back in the standpipe and ran a cycle assuming it would overflow but it did not. Is the purpose of the float to keep garbage out of the standpipe? Trying to decide if I need to buy a new assembly or let it ride.
