My dishwasher overflows. It starts to fill water, then water stops, but as soon as washing cycle starts and arm-sprays starts rotating - it will overflow from the bottom of the door. It drains fine though. I have checked the float cup, it moves freely and I can hear a click as i move it up and down. What could cause the overflowing and how do I fix it? Thanks!!!!

My 5 year old dishwasher is leaking at Part AP3138166, the Float Switch. This only happens every 3 or 4 days and when the tub is full of water and in wash cycle. I'm guessing either the seal has failed or the switch is allowing too much water into the tub and its somehow overflowing thru the switch. Ive checked the float and it seems to move up and down freely. If it is the float switch, how hard is it to remove and replace? Thanks.

Latest Questions

The pump seems like it's cavitating. It pumps then wooshes, and the top isnt spinning at all. When I add water manually it runs well. So when I jump out the door and watch it fill, it fills very slowly and not nearly enough. It doesn't even get to the float. I pulled the fill valve, and the strainer is clean. Are these the only two assemblies relating to filling? Should I replace both?

Hi, when my dishwasher starts to fill up it stops before it reaches the proper water level. By manually testing the float it seams to be working, is there a timer that also controls the water input ?

My dishwasher was leaking at part number 8545880. When I removed the part I found that it was gummed up with food residue. I cleaned the part and the area around the opening for the part. I visually inspected the part and found no cracks in the part or tears in the rubber seal washer. I put the part back together in the dishwasher. There is a cap that sits on top of the tube inside the dishwasher with a long stem that goes through the part to activate the switch. When I took the cap off I had to pull and it made a popping sound when it came off. When I put it back on it now sits freely. Is the cap supposed to free float or should it click when it goes back on? I don't want water to run down the tube.
