Good morning. I have no power at all to my Whirlpool microwave model number GH5184XPB-3. Can I access the fuse without removing the entire unit from the wall and removing the entire cover? Thank you in advance.
There is a ceramic fuse that is located behind the control panel that you can test to see if it is bad. You would remove 2 or 3 screws from the top of the unit that holds the grille in place. Once the grille is removed you would remove 1 screw that holds the control panel in place. Test the fuse for continuity. If this fuse checks ok then you will need to pull the unit and check the cavity thermal cutoff.
I was changing out the light bulb under the microwave that light up the stove. It cause the bulb to short out and now the microwave itself doesn't work. What can I do?
Answer Hello Keith,
This could be a fuse, low voltage transformer, a wire shorting to ground, a bad light socket shorting out, or a solder connection you heard pop. The unit will have to be opened up to check for the issue.
