The part of the pump gasket (12) which is visible after removing the pump filter plate (7) is nearly disintegrated(sticky, gooey black residue comes off on your fingers). How do I replace it? Also, should there be any standing water below the filter plate (in the sump ring area) after a wash?
Answer Bill, The sticky gooey black residue, is not the gasket disintergrating. It is an indication of the water temperature being low, and or not enough detergent being used to breakdown and flush all the debris from the dishes etc. If the seal was disentergrating, your complaint would include a leakage situation. To replace the seal would require removing the pump assembly from the tub, a lot of unnecessary work. Yes there could be water left in the bottom center of the pump, it could be a shigh as the top of the screws, and still be properly drained. You may want to try cleaning the dishwasher tub with W10282479 and recheck the water temp. 120 dgrs F. in the tub on the first fill of any cycle. and re adjust the amount and/or type of detergent used. Good Luck and Thanks
