I need replacement for gaskets of both doors. Are they "grey" to match the current stainless steel look? Out of curiosity, any idea why the original gaskets are disintegrating (ripping)? Thanks.
Answer Hello Mark,
The old gaskets will deteriorate over time and units that have had excessive amounts of detergent will show signs sooner those that haven't. The reason is that the detergent has a chemical reactant in it that is geared toward attacking food deposits. If the dishes have been rinsed or the unit has an excess of detergent added, the excess chemical reaction will actually attack the dishes and the rubber seals in the unit. This causes the glasses to cloud, the dishes to lose the designs on them, and the silverware to turn grey. The rubber seals will crack and get "wavy".
