Washer less then 4 yrs old. Making an extremely loud noise during the spin cycle (sounds like an airplane taking off!). I'm suspecting the gearcase is bad. Started disassembling machine, everything appeared to be in it's place and tight. Removed impeller and tub ring. Unable to pull basket off of shaft (tried spraying with penetrating oil...no luck). Went to the bottom, disconnected all the harnesses, removed 4 screws holding gearcase assembly on...unable to pull gear case assembly off of basket and tub. Following instructions in tech manual (http://applianceassistant.com/ServiceManuals/w10329932_l-84_whirlpool_vertical_modular_washer.pdf). Baffled. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated on getting things apart, as well as if the gearcase is a likely culprit of the noise.

Our Whirlpool Cabrio washer is only 3 years old. It sounds like the gear spline is slipping, especially on small loads. I replaced the cam and belt about 3 months ago, and saw wear on the pieces. It worked "ok" for about a month, then the noise started all over again. I pulled it back apart today and see wear on the new cam spline and the gear spline. I'm assuming it is a total gearbox replacement now, but seems early for a metal to plastic spline to be wearing out. Your comment? Thanks.

My whirlpool cabrio washer will not agitate. You can hear the motor working and yet the tub doesn't move. It will spin and drain just fine. What could be wrong?

I took the lid lock off of the lid to watch the operation of my washer. What I found is the washer is not agitating. It spins fine but will not wash the clothes. It sounds like it is and operates ok but like I said the tub and small agitator do not move. What is the problem? Does this sound like the transmission or something else? Please help.
