Answer Hello Jay. You can splice these, but you will need to use ceramic wire nuts and make sure no wires can touch metal. It is best to do without splicing, but can be done.

Answer Hello Jelisa, You can just replace the bulb, but there is a reason the manufacturer sell it like this. Cooking grease tends to accumulate in and on the assemblies and causes problems worse than a burned out bulb. Also, if you touch this type of bulb with your fingers, it will cause the bulb to blow prematurely. If you try changing just the bulb, you have to use a paper towel to prevent the oil from your skin form ever contacting the bulb.
