My kitchen aid fridge would not dispense water at full stream. It makes a bouncing sound, like someone turning on and off real fast. After changing filter, and then water inlet valve, I still have same problem. What do you think it could be.
In a lot of cases this issue would be caused by one of 2 things. The first is you will want to make sure that the filter was twisted in all the way. If the filter is not twisted in all the way it will cause the pins that are in the filter head to not be fully depressed and causing the hammering noise. The second if the filter is twisted in all the way is that the filter head is faulty because the pins are not going straight in and sitting at an angle and creating the noise. In this case you would need to replace the filter head assembly 67004106.
Pretty confident I've isolated the problem down to the Water Filter Head on my Maytag refridgerator. Now the question is, how difficult a repair is this? Is it something a mook like me with moderate mechanical skills and a basic tool set can handle? I don't see that you have one of the great videos I've followed for other repairs in the past.
Answer Hello Danin. These are not to hard to replace. Turn off water and power. 1. Remove filter cover opening cover and pulling rear left side of cover to the left to release cover from holding pin. 2. Filter head can be released from holding bracket by opening tabs on left side filter head and pulling downward and to your left to release filter head. 3. Tubing needs to be disconnected from water valves in the machine compartment. 4. After tubing is loose from water valves pull the filter head and tubing out the front of unit. 5. Reverse procedure to reassemble.
How to repair water dispenser?
Answer Skip, You didn't mention an issue, but you want to make sure the water tank behind the crisper drawers is not frozen, and there's plenty of water at the fill valve connection. 1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power. 2. Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator. 3. Open the refrigerator compartment doors and remove any items from around the water dispenser switch. 4. Slide the water dispenser screw cover up
and remove it. 5. Remove the hex-head screw from the water dispenser. 6. Pull the top of the water dispenser out and remove the water dispenser from the liner. 7. Disconnect the two wires from the dispenser switch terminals. 8. Push and release the locking tabs on the water dispenser switch, and pull the switch off the housing pins. 9. Disconnect the end of the water dispenser tube at the quick-disconnect coming
from the water reservoir. 10. Remove the retaining clip and water tubing from the water dispenser housing and pull the end of the tube off the housing. 11. Pull the water dispenser tubing out of the channel in the refrigerator liner. As long as the filter and filter housing are clean and the filter is installed properly, you should find the issue in the switch assembly.
